HOLIDAY Q-BIT

A Thanksgiving Q-bit for a reminder to always give thanks to the Lord for his enduring love.

The Q-bit measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and is based on a traditional medallion quilt set.

A HOLIDAY Q-BIT

The traditional Log Cabin pattern in quilt making is a very versatile design. The center square can be easily adjusted to fit your desired motif; plus, the log's size can also be adjusted, if necessary. In the Q-bit card above, I used a variation of the Log Cabin called Courthouse Steps to encircle the Halloween cat image.

The quilt, below, is a two-block design that includes the Courthouse Steps pattern.

The Q-bit card measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". The quilt, called Around the Block, is 46" x 60" and is in my "Traditional Two-Block Quilts" book.

A STAR Q-BIT

Two of my favorite things to incorporate in quilts are stars and borders. This Q-Bit has both; even though the star is just one-fourth of a traditional quilt star pattern.
Below is the back of the card.

This is not the same star pattern as above, but this quilt called 'Rising Star' was fun to make. In the upper right corner is inked a Ralph Waldo Emerson poem about success and was made to celebrate family college graduations.

The Q-bit card measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". The quilt is 59" square, and was pictured in my signature quilt book.

A TRAVEL Q-BIT - ROTHENBURG, GERMANY

I've been working on some travel Q-Bits of places I visited on my trip to Germany and France this summer. One of my favorite towns in Germany was Rothenburg, a medieval city. I loved the old buildings and the encircling walls. The image I used on the card below is from an old postcard.
The quilt design is very typical for a medallion-style quilt. The back of the Q-Bit, shown below, is covered with paper the color of the sky the day I visited Rothenburg.

The size of the Q-Bit is 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

A TRAVEL Q-BIT

My son has traveled to Japan a couple of times bringing back gifts from his favorite paper store in Tokyo. The Japanese are masters in wrapping packages even for the average customer. The paper used to cover the foundation of the Q-Bit above was the wrapping paper from one package. The fans are a traditional quilt pattern, which I constructed from origami paper.

The back of the card (below) is covered with a different paper, and the stickers were salvaged from the wrappings.

A HOLIDAY Q-BIT

Since we are between the 4th of July and another one of our patriotic holidays, Labor Day; I thought I would share today a Q-bit that I created in honor of July 4th. Since the song, America the Beautiful, was written after viewing our glorious Rocky Mountains here in Colorado; I thought it apropos to include it on this card along with a quilt pattern hinting at the 'stars and stripes'. Below is the back of the card.
